Shyam received his Bachelor's in Mathematics from U.C. Berkeley.
Daniel Englander heads GTM Research's downstream markets practice. His expertise covers utility regulation and economics, renewable energy project development and project finance, and energy policy, with a specific emphasis on solar power. Daniel has experience in international investment due diligence and the financial and regulatory issues relating to renewable energy market entry. Prior to joining GTM Research, Daniel worked at Mayer Brown LLC's Supreme Court and Appellate Practice Group in Washington, D.C. Daniel received his B.A. in International and Comparative Policy Studies from Reed College and his A.L.M. in Environmental Management from Harvard University. Daniel is also a participant in the U.S. Department of Energy's PV Expert Group.
Prior to joining Greentech Media, Eric Wesoff founded Sage Marketing Partners in 2000 to provide sales and marketing-consulting services to venture-capital firms and their portfolio companies in the alternative energy and telecommunications sectors. Mr. Wesoff has become a well-known, respected authority and speaker in these fields. He also was the publisher of the Venture Power newsletter, a subscription-only newsletter covering venture-capital investment in renewable energy.
Eric's expertise covers solar power, fuel cells, biofuels and advanced batteries. His strengths are in market research and analysis, business development and due diligence for investors. He frequently consults for energy startups and Silicon Valley's premier venture capitalists.
From 1988 to 1996, Eric served as product marketing manager for Siemens Optoelectronics, where he oversaw complex product lines and managed relationships with global customers. He then became the U.S. marketing and sales manger for Akzo Nobel Photonics, which was acquired by JDS Uniphase. Eric later served as the sales director for Dicon Fiber Optics, where he was responsible for selling millions of dollars of fiber-optic telecom-equipment. He has consulted for Merck, JDSU, Coherent, IBM and scores of other firms, governments and organizations.

Travis is currently the Editor-in-Chief of PVNews, the solar energy industry's oldest newsletter, and is the author of Solar Revolution: The Economic Transformation of the Global Energy Industry published by MIT Press. He is also a partner at Atlas Capital, a hedge fund based in Cambridge, MA.
David Leeds is an Analyst at Greentech Media, focusing on the emerging Smart Grid sector. Prior to joining Greentech Media, David worked as an Analyst at Babson Capital/MassMutual in the Global Capital Markets Group. An avid world-traveler, David has come into contact with many of our most pressing environmental and social challenges. His research, focused on the convergence of IT, telecom and energy networks, leads him to believe that a smarter future is possible if we can reinvent our collective relationship with energy. Mr. Leeds completed his degree in international business and finance at Trinity College at Oxford (U.K.) and the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. David lives and works in New York City.

In 1997, Scott co-founded Pioneer Consulting, which quickly grew into the leading market research firm covering the optical and broadband communications industry.
Rick Thompson brings 14 years of industry experience from leading technology start-ups, incumbent networking and communications companies, and technology market research firms. Most recently, Rick was senior analyst at Heavy Reading, the market research arm of Light Reading, the dominant online media company in the telecommunications market. CMP bought Light Reading in 2005. Prior to Heavy Reading, Rick was a principal at PointEast Research, where he led market analysis and strategic consulting across a wide range of network communications market segments.
Rick previously served as the vice president of marketing at PanGo Networks, a wireless software company, and as director of product management and marketing at Sycamore Networks Inc. At Sycamore, he defined the product strategy and executed the launch of the industry's first intelligent optical switching platform. Under his leadership, Sycamore deployed several of the world's largest intelligent optical network infrastructures for global wired and wireless service providers. Prior to joining Sycamore, Rick held similar product management positions with Packet Engines, a pioneer of Gigabit Ethernet switching that was later acquired by Alcatel, and FORE Systems, a leader in ATM networking that was later acquired by Marconi and, subsequently, Ericsson. Mr. Thompson earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
Shayle Kann is an Energy Analyst with GTM Research, focusing on downstream solar markets and carbon markets. Shayle joined GTM Research upon returning from Australia, where he was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar with the Centre for Sustainable Energy Systems at the Australian National University. His Fulbright research, which focused on renewable energy financing and project development during the credit crisis, was published in the international journal Energy Policy.
Before moving to Australia, Shayle worked in the Clean Energy Markets division of Conservation Services Group, focusing on voluntary and compliance markets for renewable energy certificates and carbon offsets. Shayle also served as an author for Celsias.com, where he covered clean energy and carbon policy, and as an intern at the California Public Utilities Commission, where he helped craft statewide utility energy regulations. Shayle received a Bachelor’s cum laude, phi beta kappa from Pomona College.
Silvia joined Greentech Media in 2008 to focus on the European renewable energy market's development with specific emphasis on the solar industry. She has marketing experience from her work with a non-profit environmental organization located in Munich. Silvia has a degree in economic geography from the University of Munich. During her studies she focused on environmental economics and wrote her thesis about green building. She also brings with her a deep interest in environment and climate protection.
